Mastercard at Igni Casino
In short: fine as a deposit rail, mediocre as a payout one. 20 euros minimum, credited instantly, returned over one to three banking days - and whether it works at all depends on how your issuer treats gambling spend.
Open the Igni Casino cashierWhere Mastercard fits among the methods
Card payments are the default habit for most people, and that habit is the main argument for using one here. Mechanically Mastercard sits in the middle of the list: quicker than a bank transfer going in, slower than every other method coming out, and more dependent on a third party - your issuer - than any of the alternatives.
Three card types turn up in Finnish wallets and they behave differently. A debit card spends money you already have and is the cleanest option. A credit card spends the bank's money, adds interest, and at some issuers is classified as a cash advance when the merchant is a casino, which can carry a fee from the first day. A prepaid card is capped by whatever you loaded onto it, which some players use deliberately as a hard budget.
Depositing with Mastercard
- Pick Mastercard in the cashier and fill in the card number, expiry date and security code.
- Enter an amount of at least 20 euros.
- Approve the Identity Check prompt. On Finnish cards this is normally a confirmation in the bank's own app.
- The money is on the balance in seconds. Any bonus has to be selected on this screen - it cannot be attached afterwards.
- Note the descriptor that appears on your statement; it is the processor's name, not the casino's.
The card details are handled by the operator's payment processor rather than stored by the casino, which is the reason the form looks like a normal online checkout. If you would rather no card number was typed anywhere, Trustly uses bank credentials instead and never shows a card field.
Issuer blocks: the most common failure
Every merchant carries a category code, and gambling has its own. Finnish banks take different positions on it. Some refuse the category outright, some allow it on debit but not on credit, and several expose a switch in the mobile app that lets the customer decide.
When a deposit fails for this reason, the transaction is refused before it reaches the operator - the balance is untouched and support cannot override it. Look in your banking app under card settings or payment controls before you assume something is broken at the casino. If the block cannot be lifted, the bank-credential and voucher rails on the payments hub do the same job.
A refused attempt sometimes leaves a short-lived authorisation hold on the available balance. It clears on its own; it is not a charge.
Withdrawing with Mastercard
Payouts to a card are possible and slow. The chain is longer than it looks: the operator approves the request, the processor pushes the credit to the card network, and your issuer decides when to post it.
- Select Mastercard in the withdrawal tab - it has to be the card the deposits came from.
- Enter at least 20 euros, within the daily cap shown next to the method.
- Confirm and wait for the review, which is where an unverified account will be stopped.
- Allow one to three banking days for the credit to appear. Weekends and Finnish public holidays are not banking days.
The refund-to-source principle limits what can travel this way: only up to the total you deposited from that card. Whatever exceeds it is winnings, and winnings are normally redirected to Trustly or to a SEPA bank transfer. If you plan on card deposits, register an IBAN early so the second half of a payout has somewhere to go - the details are in the withdrawal guide.
Because the payout is posted as a refund, it can land on the statement against the date of the original deposit rather than today. Search by amount if you cannot find it.
Speed and cost, side by side
| Step | Who controls it | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit | Processor and your bank app | Seconds |
| Payout review | Operator | Up to a few hours |
| Card network leg | Processor | Same day |
| Posting to your account | Your issuer | 1-3 banking days |
The cashier adds no commission at any step. The only charge that can appear is from your own side - a conversion margin on a card not held in euros, or interest and cash-advance handling on a credit card.
Spending control on a credit card
This deserves saying plainly. A credit card lets you deposit money you do not have, and the balance owed does not care how the session went. If you use one here, set a deposit limit in the account settings first and keep it lower than the credit line, so the boundary is decided in advance rather than mid-session. A prepaid card achieves something similar by simply running out.
If limits stop feeling like a budget and start feeling like an obstacle, that is the signal to read the responsible gambling page rather than to raise the cap.

What this means in practice
Use a Mastercard if convenience outweighs speed and your bank allows the category. Prefer debit over credit. Register a bank account for the payout side before you need it, because the card will not carry the whole amount back. And if you want one rail that is quick in both directions, the comparison table on the payments hub points at Trustly - two hours out, no card details, same bank account. The Igni Casino review covers everything outside the cashier.
